At Suck It Up! we’ve been in the professional cleaning business for many years, offering carpet steam cleaning and hard floor washing. We realised that when it comes to large floor rugs, the quickest, easiest and most effective way to have them cleaned was via specialised equipment offsite – and so we invested in that technology.
This now means you only have to be present for pick up and drop off; we’ll take care of the rest.

A multi-step process – for us!

Our rug cleaning process involves a number of steps:

1. 1. Rugs are pre-cleaned to remove loose dirt. You would be surprised just how much dust and debris can accumulate in the average floor rug!
2. 2. Check for colourfastness. Before we get too serious with the cleaning process, we always check rugs to ensure the colours will not run when products are applied. Generally there are no issues, as our methods and cleaning products are highly specialised to the job at hand.
3. 3. Stains and odours are addressed. It’s not a floor rug without a stain, and fortunately, most can be removed – even red wine.
4. 4. Immersion. Rugs are immersed in a cleaning solution to help ensure ingrained dirt is removed during the shampooing process.
5. 5. Shampooing. This stage takes place in a rotary shampoo machine specifically designed to clean rugs, meaning it’s tough on dirt yet gentle on the rug’s fibres.
6. 6. Rinsing. Once shampooed, the rotary machine also rinses the rugs, washing away every last trace of dirt.
7. 7. Moisture is removed. Excess water is removed in the rotary cleaner – much like a spin cycle in a washing machine – however our drying process doesn’t end there. We use a drying room to carefully remove any last traces of moisture and dampness, so that when rugs are returned to you they are ready to go back on the floor and into regular use immediately.
